Evan Fairs told Jayhawk Slant he trimmed his list of schools down to Kansas and Illinois before his visit. By the time his official visit was coming to a close Fairs narrowed it down to one.

On Sunday he gave a verbal commitment to Kansas head coach David Beaty. Fairs confirmed in a text message he committed to the Jayhawks.

Fairs was an early commitment to Maryland after being one of their top wide receiver targets. But when the staff at Maryland was fired during the season he opened up his recruiting.

Kansas assistant Calvin Thibodeaux continued to stay in touch with Fairs who was a finalist for the Houston Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Year. Fairs, a first team all district selection caught 55 passes for 900 yards and 14 TD.

Fairs is on his way to the airport and we will have much on his decision later.
