Someday there might be video requested of David Beaty doing a backflip. When quarterback Tyriek Starks called Beaty to tell him he is going to be a Jayhawk on Tuesday night that was response he got.

“He actually said he was doing back flips,” Starks said of talking to Beaty. “He said he was going to have a permanent smile on his face after I committed.”

On Tuesday night Kansas assistant made an in home visit with Starks and his family.

“He (Perry) was very excited too,” Starks said. “We were talking about the future and how I can help change the program.”

When Starks came back home after his visit from Kansas he wanted time to think. Once he thought about his visit he realized he already missed Lawrence after being home for a short time.

“The coaches and the players and the chemistry that I have with all of them is what stood out,” Starks said. “It was just a fantastic visit. When I got back home I kind of actually missed Kansas.”

Starks talked things over with his family Tuesday to make sure he was ready a commitment. He said his mom Angela, felt comfortable with the coaching staff at Kansas.

“We talked about the distance and how far it is away from home,” Starks said. “Me and my mom went up there for a visit and it was a great campus. She wanted to see who she was going to leave me with for the next four years.”

The recruiting picked up heavy in January for Starks who narrowed his list of schools down to Kansas, Central Florida, Georgia Southern, and Tulane.

“It gives me peace to make my decision,” he said. “The process was starting to get overwhelming. Now I can relax and wait until signing day.”
